TOGETHER – Empowering, Inspiring, Learning for the FUTURE!

July 2021

Hello Colorow Families!

Hope you’ve had a relaxing, but fun, summer! I enjoyed time with my family at the pool, playing at parks, and taking walks.

We are excited for the 21-22 school year to start at Colorow Elementary.  We look forward to welcoming back continuing friends and also making new friends.

I’m honored to be working at Colorow with some of the kindest, most dedicated staff around. Colorow is truly a gem of a neighborhood school.   This is my second year, and while the previous school year was anything but normal, I am so proud of the work our staff, and students, did.  We have some exciting work ahead of us, and anticipate receiving our International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation in the spring. This has been a long journey, and while it would have been easy to press pause last year, we believed moving forward was the best thing for our Colorow community.  Through our learnings and training around IB our belief has grown over the years that encouraging students to be inquirers, compassionate, thinkers and leaders will better prepare them for their future.  As you know, once accredited, we will be the only PK-12th grade pathway in South Jeffco. Summit Ridge Middle School and Dakota Ridge High School are both IB accredited, meaning any child who starts school at Colorow, will participate in the prestigious IB program each academic year until they graduate!  Check out our updated IB website to learn even more:

We currently are planning to host in person activities this fall, and could not be more thrilled!  Please take note of the following dates (if anything changes due to health guidelines, we’ll make sure to update families)

August 10th: Kinder Parent Orientation night

August 16th:  Teacher Meet and Greet Night/supply drop off

August 17th: 1st day of school

August 26th:  Curriculum Night

As you are preparing your child to return to school, here are a few tips that may help.  A week before school starts begin your normal nighttime routine and have a consistent bedtime.  Allow your child to help pick out school supplies. Encourage your child to complete easy tasks on their own and review with them how to ask for help when needed. Remind them that their teachers and principal care a lot about them and want them to have a great time at school!

In Kindness,
